When I'm on my travels, I sometimes blog
London, September 19th-22nd 2024
Hi guys!
In this installment I will do a quick summary of the four final days of my September trip to Gothenburg and London.
On the 19th, which was my 61st birthday, I got up as late as I could without missing the hotel breakfast. The Liverpool day was a long one and I was feeling it. I had made plans to meet up with Jan Rockar at lunchtime around St Paul. I had some time to shoot before and it was nice, with the sun out.
When we met up, a nice surprise was that Jan's girlfriend Mariola also joined. I know her too, from the two occasions when they invited me to stay at their home in 2017-18. We had a great Vietnamese Banh Mi sandwich and afterwise a nice long chat and a pint outside a nearby pub.
After lunch me and Jan walked across the Millennium Bridge to Tate Modern. We saw the Joel Meyerowitz exhibition there, very nice! After another pint at another pub, Jan had to go back to work and I shot some more street before meeting up with Fredrik, Anders and Kate for dinner. Pizzas this time.
The 20th started off in Soho and I met with Fredrik, Anders and Kate at Oxford Circus at around 11:30. A burger lunch later we were ready for some street photography! Remembering a good photo day some years ago I had the idea to go off towards Chelsea. No one else thought that was a good idea and we went on our separate ways. Last time I went there I had read up a bit which streets would be of interest an had a look at the map. Now I just went a bit randomly and as it turns out planning might be a good thing... I didn't find much and got the tube back to Soho. Jan and Mariola had invited me and Fredrik to a garden barbeque at their house in east London. We got there at about four o'clock and had a wonderful time meeting them and their friends and neighbors! Great food too! Thank you so much for inviting us!
Portobello Road market was the first and major stop of Satuday the 21st. Me, Fredrik, Anders and Kate walked around separately, bumping into each other now and then to chat. I did quite a lot of shooting, mostly on the edges of the main market street. Had a Turkish grilled and filled bread for a late lunch. Afterwards, me and Fredrik went to Soho to try one of his favourite places for a pint. It was an Asian restaurant rather than a pub, but they have Pilsener Urquell in big copper vats which tasted great. After that we met with Anders and Kate again for another visit to our favourite Kansas barbeque place.
The Sunday was rainy and I was really really tired after 10 intense days. So I stayed at the hotel editing photos and just went out for a quick lunch. I got the Elizabeth Line to Heathrow airport early and did some more editing there. The flights home were uneventful, and I got back home at 20 minutes past midnight.
Take care, everybody!

When I'm on my travels, i sometimes blog here
I've always liked to travel and have taken a lot of photos when I do. Since 2010, I've travelled extensively and combined my longing to discover the world with a growing passion for street photography.
My old photo blog was written between 2013 and 18. Beware, it's in Swedish and has 776 episodes.
